Before you start - eligibility checklist: PPOTA only accepts permanent lentic (still) water bodies - natural places, lagoons, reservoirs, dams, recreational places, and former mining places.
- Accepted: natural places, lagoons, reservoirs, dams, marshes, brackish coastal lagoons, recreational place parks, former mining places.
- Excluded: rivers and streams (lotic / flowing water), temporary or seasonal pools, purely ornamental or industrial facilities, wetlands.
- Minimum size: 400 m² of water surface.
- Public access: shoreline must be reachable by the public (free, paid, or permit). Personal-invitation-only access is not eligible.
- Coordinates: must point to a location on the water surface (the tool handles this automatically using the polygon centroid).
📏 Step 1: Trace the place on the Map
Switch on Measure Mode, then click points around the place shoreline. Double-click (or click Finish) to close the polygon. The tool will calculate the surface area and pick a reference coordinate on the water.
